SilverBeat 427hSilver Beats’ repertoire of songs, which includes vintage rock tunes from bands such as AC/DC, The Who, Joan Jett, Pink Floyd, flies in the face of traditional expectations of older adult choirs. An initiative of the City Of Playford the group is based at The Grenville Community Connections Hub at Elizabeth in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. It operates to encourage and enable social participation and active community involvement among older people who may otherwise remain socially isolated in their own homes.

Their choice of repertoire has given the group a strong intergenerational focus resulting in a recent collaboration with Fofo Folly a young Hip Hop/Video artist originally from Togo, Africa, to produce a professionally recorded hip hop single cd. Silver Beat also shared the stage with a local young rock band, The Viennas, at a recent performance at the Shedley Theatre, Elizabeth and are active participants in the Every Generation Festival.
