Welcome to the example Member Page for the Music in Communities Network.  This is a central part of our Community Music Online scheme to help community groups manage their presence in the online environment.

You can link to Facebook if you're one of the 60% of groups with a Facebook page, profile, or group.

If you're one of the 10% of community music groups using Twitter, there's an icon for that too.

The tabs up the top are all optional, you can use as many or as few of these as you like.  Keep it simple at first and add more content as you get comfortable with it.

It's a good idea to have contact details for your group or organisation, we want people to make music and join community music groups so we want them to have a way of contacting you. 

If you're uncomforotable with using your personal email address, set up one for the organisation.

List some information about your group, its history, why and when you started, how you operate and how people can join.  Nobody likes reading an essay on a website but it's good to have some information about your group or organisation. 

We used a question / answer format in our own About Us section. 

Who plays in your group? You don't have to list them all but we find that a lot of community music groups have some information about key personnel on their website, or perhaps a profile of a few musicians and why they've joined the group.

If you're going to post your actual repertoire here just make sure it's all legally ok (ie not breaching copyright); we find that community music groups often share information about their repertoire, maybe some information about pieces for an upcoming performance, or YouTube videos / SoundCloud audio clips.

If you have an interesting story to tell, tell it! Our research found that two-thirds of community based orchestras have been around for more than 20 years, there are plenty of well established community music groups out there with an interesting history.

List all of your concerts in one place and regular refer people to it.  One simple option is to use Facebook events (although it relies on people using Facebook), another is to have a dedicated page on your website.

We named this tab "Get Involved" to keep it fairly general but you might think of it as a "rehearsals" page or a "join our group" page. 

• Do you have regular rehearsals?
• Are you looking for any particular musicians at the moment?
• Do you audition for players or is it "come one come all"?
• Is there a cost involved in being part of your group?
• Are you looking for volunteers?
