Hi I’m always working on my new vocal projects, mostly a capella arrangements, I would love to hear form anyone who has come across any wonderful vocal arrangments. One of my favorites is Standford talisman’s version of Lift Every Voice and Sing as well as their Soon Ah Will Be Done/Wayfaring Stranger, you’ll find it on Youtube.

Inspired by seeing ”Shaking the Tree” I have bought a Ukelele and am going to let go of my wish to only sing songs acappella with my choir. This will free me up to do a lot more songs that would be too tricky for them as i have arranged them. Another choir leader and I were talking about this and we both felt we needed to feed our acappella needs by getting together with other singing leaders or skilled singers to do our favourite arrangements, ones that wouldn’t be possible with our choirs. Of course it’s great to be able to meet the singers where they are and take them further, but I’ve offered up a few songs that have proven too hard. One is ”Love is the 7th Wave” and I reluctantly bailed on it. However, now I have my little 4 stringed friend, the 6 parts will now be 3 and we will be able to do the song proud!

I lead a community choir called VoKallista based in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria and we’re preparing to perform at the Selby Acappella festival next month. We have a youtube clip…type in ”vokallista” and are going to the Gorgeous Voices Festival in Bendigo in October. I hope to see some of you there!

Hi Michael ~ I LOVE the original, positive & inspiring spiral-bound copies of the Victoria Sings songbook/CD set, still using some of the songs 6 years-on. Community Music Victoria allows choirs to make their own copies once they’ve purchased one. I’ve gone both the DYI route & purchased route, and by the time you make up your own (esp. if you dup the double-set CDs), the cost isn’t much different than what CMV charge, and the product tends to be pretty ordinary.
I’ve gotten a discount before on ordering 10 copies, so I’m sure they’d do you a deal on 30.

Hi, I’m the administrator of the Canada Bay Community Choir (CBCC). The choir started in Jan 2010 and has around 25 active singers, most of whom are new to choral singing. In our repertoire so far we have ”Ave Verum Corpus” (Mozart), ”Simple Gifts” (arr. Stephen Leek) and ”In Flanders Fields” (arr. Roger Emerson). We also have a number of rounds and have tried a couple of gospel songs.
We have been fortunate in getting a gift from Drummoyne Rotary to establish our music library. I want to buy SAB arrangements with piano accompaniment and we would particularly like Australian pieces. Can anyone suggest any pieces for us to have a look at, please?Hi Michael, have you tried the Australian Music Centre? You can find them at http://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/
Hi Michael
I’m a composer and have a number of original compositions available for the forces you require! I’ve a little of my work posted online at http://www.youtube.com/tigerfishgirl
Although I’ve not posted any choral music there, you can still see/hear the flavour of my work *grin*
