Strathfield Symphony Presents Bach Mass in B MInor
Following their sold out collaboration on Beethoven 9th Symphony in 2012, Strathfield Symphony Orchestra and the award winning Wesley Institute Choir join forces again to present Bach's magnificent Mass in B Minor.
Music Director Sadaharu Muramatsu realizes one of his long held ambitions to conduct Bach's last major work and one of the supreme achievements of classical music. While the heavenly Sanctus was composed in 1724, the work was only put together in the last years of Bach's life, reworking other pieces written in previous decades. What drove Bach to do this? There was no performance in view at the time, and in fact the Mass was not performed in its entirety until more than 100 years after his death in 1859. Did Bach sense that a monumental edifice was needed to complete his life's work?
Many mysteries surround this masterwork. Seating is limited and these concerts are expected to sell out - Book now!
