Teachers and Leaders of Australian Ukulele Groups (TALAUG)

Additional Info

This network of people leading ukulele groups and programs around the country was created in October 2012 as part of the Newkulele Festival in Newcastle, NSW. Many thanks to Mark and Jane from Sum of the Parts Music, who have initiated the network.

Want to stay in touch?  The first TALAUG meeting suggested an informal network (that is to say, no elected committee or incorporated body) which uses the UkeOz group and the Music in Communities Network as a 'home base'.

This is an informal network of Teachers and Leaders of Australian Ukulele Groups, as the name suggests.  This includes not-for-profit community groups, professional teachers working in the community and schools, people running uke groups within institutions (eg. nursing homes, churches) and anybody else interested in running ukulele groups.

The first forum was held in October 2012 in Newcastle.  There are no formal plans for a second gathering but the members agreed that getting together face-to-face is worthwhile for everybody involved.  The "pencilled in" plan is to meet in Brisbane in 2013.
